Hello everyone, been a while since I last posted a journal but this is something important enough that I need to announce.
For most of my time here on DA I have taken a large amount of requests and art trades from alot of people who have asked. For the most part I had been doing this for my own reasons, a little bit for the joy of simply drawing for other people but mainly to build up enough mileage art wise to increase my own skills. A little selfish I know but I think it was a worthy trade.
Unfortunately, when I began to ask for commission work, most of you have shyed away and merely waited for me to become charitable again to ask for me to draw them something and after about 2 to 3 years of doing this, I have become sick and tired of it all.
Don't get me wrong I love doing art for those who apprecriate it but for a while now I have been feeling a since of being taken advantage of. Whether its from my own insecurities or something else entirely is unknown but after looking throughout my own page I find it swamped with other people creations and little of my own.
Normally this is the part where I would say that I am no longer going to be taking requests and all that but instead I have decided on something different.
Long story short ...... I am no longer accepting requests in the traditional since.
Instead I will need to see at least 50 gesture studies from those who wish for me to draw anything from them first. After I have recieved the gestures, I will review them with the artist then give out more work pretaining to where I feel the artist needs the most asisstance with. I will only submit the request to the artist after I have recieved the additional work.
This is something I have musing over for a while now and what I hope to accomplish with this is to help everyone improve on their art.
I feel that even though I have seen alot of people post tutorials and such here, none of them really require anything from us and really we can't learn without actively doing. I hope this kind of process will change that.
for those who feel they are having trouble looking for gestures to work from I feel this sight works best [link]
